Gap is an interactive media art exhibition focusing on zoos and animal rights. When a person approaches a beluga dolphin, it swims away to a different monitor. It gives viewers a chance to think about the greed behind animal captivation and that the distance between humans and animals must be respected.
The interaction was achieved through I2C protocol between multiple Arduinos. Each monitor was equipped with a floor sensor in front, and a master Arduino was used to determine where the viewer was. Messages were then sent to slave Arduinos to control the computers displaying the videos.
