노랑 빨강 파랑 Yellow Red Blue

노랑 빨강 파랑은 칸딘스키의 “노랑 빨강 파랑”에서 영감을 얻어 제작한 플로어스탠드인다. 노랑, 빨강, 파랑의 아크릴 조각들과 그 그림자들은 원작속에서 표현되는 감정들의 충돌을 새로운 표현방식으로 담아낸다.

노랑 빨강 파랑은 유럽 출신의 원작과 달리 한국의 문화에 맞추어 디자인되었다. 한국 전통 작품과 건축, 그리고 옷에서 찾아볼 수 있는 단순한 색상을 사용함과 동시에, 온돌 생활에 익숙한 한국인에 맞추어 비교적 낮게 디자인되었다. 소파를 등받이로 사용하는 한국인의 삶에는 기존의 플로어스탠드는 매우 높은 편이기에 노랑 빨강 파랑은 전통적인 등잔 정도의 높이에 머물러있다.

Yellow Red Blue is a lampstand based on a the Kandinsky painting by the same name. Using the three main colors of “Yellow Red Blue,” the transparent acrylic produces a kaleidoscope of shadows that recreates the clashing of emotions found in the painting.

While Yellow Red Blue takes its inspiration from the renowned Russian artist, the product leans towards designing a lampstand to fit the Korean agenda. It uses primary colors found easily in Korean traditional art forms and is tailored to the ondol lifestyle(floor heating). Even with sofas present, centuries of sitting on the floor has made it a norm for Koreans to sit on the floor and use sofas as a means to keep our backs straight. Thus a shorter lamp with lighting focused on the bottom is a more suitable fit for this lifestyle.
